Andre Braugher was a pioneer in playing smart, driven, flawed Black characters
Braugher, who starred on Homicide and Brooklyn Nine-Nine, died Tuesday at age 61. Trained at Juilliard and adept at stage work, the actor had a steely authority that undergirded most of his roles.
