Volunteer 'citizen historians' are trying to safeguard the Smithsonian
EMBARGOED for 9/22: Two historians have spearheaded an effort to document everything in the Smithsonian before the Trump Administration makes any changes. Since that is tens of thousands of exhibits in its 21 museums, the historians put out a call for volunteers to visit the museums and photograph the objects and written materials describing them. Hundreds of people answered the call.
